Bolt is a common fastener used in many fields such as machinery, construction, and automobiles. It connects and fixes two or more parts through the combination of threads and nuts. There are many types of bolts. According to their uses and design features, they can be divided into ordinary bolts, hexagonal head bolts, hexagon socket bolts, shear bolts, stop bolts and other types.
Ordinary bolts are the most basic fasteners, usually composed of a head and a shaft, and are suitable for the connection of general mechanical structures. Hexagonal head bolts are one of the most commonly used bolt types in industry because of their hexagonal heads, which are easy to tighten or loosen with a wrench. Hexagon socket bolts have six hexagonal holes and are suitable for applications with limited space, such as automobile engines or precision instruments.
Shear bolts are mainly used in situations where shear forces are applied, such as bridges and building structures, and are designed to withstand large lateral forces. Stop bolts are widely used in the aerospace and automotive industries because of their special structural design to prevent loosening under vibration or impact conditions.
In terms of material selection, bolts can be made of a variety of materials such as stainless steel, alloy steel, and cadmium-plated alloys to meet the corrosion resistance and strength requirements in different environments. Stainless steel bolts are suitable for wet or corrosive environments, while cadmium-plated alloy bolts provide increased corrosion resistance.
